AUF, AMA, University of Baguio secure semis berths

IBAJAY, Aklan - Powerhouse squads Angeles University Foundation, AMA Computer University and University of Baguio rolled past their foes to stay on course for the crossover semifinals of the 61st National Inter-Collegiate Basketball Championship at the Ibajay Multipurpose Hall here.
But both the AUF Great Danes and the UB Cardinals won their matches the hard way.
AUF flirted with disaster before finally subduing a stubborn Enverga University in extra time, 82-77, for its sixth straight win. UB likewise needed a 5-minute extension to turn back Saint Vincent de Paul College of Caraga, 100-97, to post its fifth victory in six outings in the weeklong event organized by the Basketball Association of the Philippines in cooperation with the municipal government of Ibajay headed by Mayor Roberto Garcia and supported by Burlington, Healthy Options and Baker’s Fair.
The AMACU Titans, also with a 5-1 slate, had a relatively easier time against the Immaculate Conception Archdiocesan School (ICAS), scoring an 84-69, to cap Thursday morning’s schedule watched by another huge crowd that include municipal officials and BAP officials led by secretary-general Graham Lim.
The fourth semis slot is still up for grabs among Saint Vincent (2-4), ICAS (2-4), Enverga University (1-4) and Northwestern Visayan College (1-4), as two of the four can emerge with similar 3-4 slates.
