REFORM THE PNP. Acting police director Senior Supt. Benigno 'Bong' Durana Jr discusses with the Aklan media practitioners on his no-nonsense transformation program for Aklan PNP (ACMagno)

KALIBO, Aklan – Media practitioners here should work together to further strengthen their ties with the police, said acting Aklan police director Senior Supt. Benigno Durana Jr.
In his speech at the oath-taking of the founding officers of the Aklan Police and Defense Press Corps (APDPC) over the weekend at Kusina sa Kalibo, Durana hailed the role of media in Aklan as advocates of change.
A change management specialist, Durana pointed out, he supports the programs and activities of APDPC aimed to transform police beat reporters into a vibrant and united group.
“To professionalize the police ranks in 17 towns is part of the transformation program of the Aklan Provincial Police Office (APPO) to deliver better police services to the community,” he said.
Durana, a member of Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1988, urged the APDPC to create more opportunities for police and defense beat reporters through trainings and seminars.
“The media in Aklan, certainly, has grown into a professional organization as a true defender of the interest of its members,” Durana said.
APDPC also mulled to grant seminars on media ethics to orient the police beat reporters and the Police Community Relations (PCD) officers in 18 police stations, including the island of Boracay .
Also present during the induction were Capt. Antonio Tumnog of the 47th Infantry Battalion, businesswoman Vicky Ramos, RMN DyKR station manager Jerome Vega and DyIN Bombo Radyo manager Jan Allen AscaƱo.
