KALIBO, Aklan – The Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) received four patrol cars and three motorcycles from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
It would contribute to the anti-crime campaign of the APPO, said Aklan acting police director Senior Supt. Benigno “Bong” Durana Jr.
The Toyota Altis patrol cars and Honda 200 cc motorcycles were used in the 12th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit in Cebu City.
"The patrol cars for local police offices would be of great help to the mobility of cops as part of their efforts to intensify peace and order in Aklan," said Durana.
The four patrol cars – for APPO, Nabas, New Washington and Kalibo police stations – formed part of the 28 patrol cars given to the PRO-6 by the Philippine National Police to help augment its acute shortage of police vehicles.
To boost their capability to patrol the streets and curb criminality, the PNP issued patrol and motorcycles to enhance the service and ensure faster response to the needs of the constituency by the police, Durana added.
"This would improve the capability of our police stations to conduct more aggressive patrol operations and to shorten response time to calls for police assistance," the newly installed police director said.
The PNP currently has 7,500 ground vehicles nationwide in its inventory consisting of trucks, troop carriers, patrol cars, and motorcycles.
