PNP chief Calderon to visit Aklan, Boracay

KALIBO, Aklan – Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Oscar Calderon will attend the blessing and inauguration of the multi-purpose building and firing range at the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) on Saturday, January 13.
The PNP chief, in his first visit to Aklan, would also discuss the peace and order situation of the province with the 17 town’s chief of police, acting police director Supt. William Macavinta said.
Calderon’s visit is also aimed to ensure that proper security preparations of the local police are implemented for renowned Kalibo Ati-Atihan Festival and the island of Boracay for the visit of foreign dignitaries after the Asean summit in Cebu City.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, Senate President Manuel Villar, Las Pinas Cong. Cynthia Villar and former congressman Mark Jimenez are expected to grace the week-long festival in honor of Senor Sto. Niño.
Macavinta said Calderon will also attend the blessing of a sub-station of the Boracay Special Tourist Protection Office (BSTPO) at Cagban jetty port, Brgy. Manoc-Manoc.Calderon will be joined by Chief Supt. Wilfredo Dulay Sr., newly installed Police Regional Office (PRO-6) director and former director of the PNP's Legal Service.
Dulay replaced Chief Supt. Geary Barias, who now heads the Directorial for Investigation and Detection Management (DIDM) post in Camp Crame.
