Typhoon’s damage to Aklan jumps to P189M

KALIBO, Aklan -- Aklan is the most heavily affected province in Western Visayas when Typhoon “Seniang” passed by, with P198.642 million in total damages both in its agriculture and infrastructure, according to the consolidated damage report of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council 6 (RDCC-6).
The same report showed that the region incurred a total of P281.446 million damages both in agriculture and infrastructure. The damage to agriculture reached P203.001 million while in infrastructure P78,445 million.
Aklan reported a total of P137,992 million damages in its agriculture, followed by Capiz with P40.859 million and Antique P24.15 million.
In infrastructure, Aklan incurred P60.65 million damages, Capiz P13.415 million and Antique P4.38 million.
Seniang, according to the report caused the death of nine persons from the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz and three others from Romblon whose motorbanca capsized in Roxas City, Capiz and also injured four persons.
The number of families affected reached 35,448 with 169,977 persons affected. A total of 1,496 houses were reported totally damaged mostly in the province of Aklan.
According to the partial report of RDCC-6, the concerned local disaster coordinating councils have already provided relief assistance in the form of food and clothing, among others, to affected families.
