SEAIR offers the world’s first real-time online booking and e-ticketing system for Caticlan flights

THE Philippine domestic carrier South East Asian Airlines (Seair) makes the pristine beaches of Boracay more accessible to travelers by going live with its new, integrated Airline Reservation and Ticketing System (ARTS), the first online booking system to offer flights to Caticlan, which serves as the nearest jump-off point to the world-famous tropical island.
Built on Microsoft’s.NET Framework and Seair’s extensive knowledge of the airline industry, ARTS enables the airline to computerize and centralize its reservation, ticketing and check-in procedures, thus allowing for a more streamlined and automated flight booking and reservation process. Individuals with access to the Internet and a web browser can use the system from anywhere in the world and purchase online tickets to Caticlan (Boracay) and other Seair destinations such as Busuanga (Palawan), Cebu, Clark and Manila.
“This integrated airline reservation and ticketing system is the result of four years’ worth of research and development by a team of Filipino software engineers. We are proud to use this locally developed airline software solution that’s fit for the global marketplace,” said Patrick Tan, vice president for commercial affairs and director for corporate planning and development, South East Asian Airlines.
The system allows the customer to view Seair flight schedules, ticket prices and seat availability as well as buy tickets at www.flyseair.com right in the comfort of the home or office. Upon purchase, the customer can print out his or her e-ticket in a matter of minutes—thus saving on valuable time and money spent traveling to the ticket office.
With Seair’s investment of more than P10 million (US$196,000) in this project, the new reservation and ticketing system is expected to generate as much as 30-percent growth in new business in its first year of implementation.
Participating credit card companies in Seair’s online reservation and ticketing system include Mastercard, Visa and JCB.
The airline is flying high this year, leveraging on its market position with the acquisition of more high-speed turboprop aircraft and the increase of flight frequencies to top destinations such as Boracay and Palawan. In the previous summer season, Seair offered up to 28 flights to Caticlan (Boracay) daily, with its planes departing from Manila in 30-minute intervals. Its recent acquisition of a fourth Dornier 328, a state-of-the-art 32-seater twin-engine turboprop aircraft, has allowed Seair to fly its passengers from Manila to Caticlan in only 35 minutes—the fastest flight to Boracay offered by a local airline.
Later this year, the airline is bringing in up to two more Dornier 328 planes to boost operations. It has set a standard in traveling with its ‘Paradise to Paradise’ routes, which let travelers enjoy the best of what the islands have to offer in one swing and with just one ticket. These routes include Caticlan (Boracay)—Busuanga (Palawan), and Caticlan-Cebu-Camiguin.
Seair now flies to 18 Philippine destinations: Caticlan (Boracay) and Cebu in Visayas; Clark in Northern Luzon; Busuanga, Cuyo, El Nido, Puerto Princesa and Rodriguez in Palawan Province; Baler in Quezon Province; Camiguin, Cotabato, Zamboanga, Jolo, Tawi-Tawi in Mindanao. The company was recently appointed as the official carrier to Malay, Aklan (Boracay) and Coron, Busuanga in Palawan during contract signings with Mayor Ceciron Cawaling of Aklan and Governor Joel Reyes of Palawan.

Interesting… I might try some of this on my blog, too. It’s quite interesting how you sometimes stop being innovative and just go for an accepted solution without actually trying to improve it… you make a couple of good points.
