KALIBO, Aklan - More out-of-school youth will benefit from the “walk for a cause” on September 8, said Alay Lakad 2006 over-all chairman Augusto Solmirano.
Bannering the theme, "Sa Bawat Hakbang, Kabuhayan Para Sa Kabataan," the fund-raising campaign will feature three groups converging at the Goding Ramos Park in front of the provincial capitol with the Rotary Club of Kalibo (RCK) and Rotary Club of Metro Kalibo as host civic organizations.
Friday's walk, established by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 168 in 1971, starts from three assembly areas – Tigayon Elementary School, Pook Airport Crossing and Camp Pastor Martelino in Brgy. New Buswang – to the Capitol grounds.
It is expected to draw 3,000 government officials and employees, civic and non-government organizations, out-of-school youth, students, professional clubs, foundations and leading business groups.
The event is a symbol of solidarity in promoting the Alay-Lakad advocacy of empowering the youth to be responsible citizens, and to provide educational and livelihood assistance to the out-of-school youth.
Solmirano said the biggest participating group, most disciplined, best in uniform and groups with highest donation will be awarded during the program by Aklan Cong. Florencio Miraflores, Gov. Carlito Marquez, Vice Gov. Ronquillo Tolentino and Kalibo Mayor Raymar Rebaldo.
