KALIBO, Aklan –- The Viva Aklan Eco-Tourism video documentary was launched recently at the CAP Conference Building, along with the presentation of the Small and Medium Development (SMED) workshop output.
The video showcases Mayor Raymar Rebaldo's innovative brainchild, Manggad it Kalibo (Wealth of Kalibo) featuring the multi-awarded Bakhawan Eco-Park, Ati-Atihan Village and Pina Village.
It also features Mayor Jed Tirol's conceptual Bugna it Tangalan (Blessing of Tangalan) featuring the Jawili Falls and the Campo Verde and the Marine Sanctuary.
The launching was led by CIDA-Pearl 2 in cooperation with the Provincial Government of Aklan, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Aklan SMED Council.
The video documentary demonstrates how the eco-tourism ventures were created particularly the Manggad it Kalibo. It is rare to find a highly urbanized capital town that has its own eco-tourism destination.
Trade Regional Director Dominic Abad led the signing of the covenant of commitment for proponents promising to fully support the Provincial SMED Council, and recognizing Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) as an important engine of growth to alleviate poverty and provide alternate jobs.
