KALIBO, Aklan – The Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi) will hold its second on-the-spot poster making contest on August 27 as a preliminary event of the forthcoming Ati-Atihan festival next year.
The competition is open to all high school, college students and out-of-school youth, aged 20 and below.
Entrants must submit a properly accomplished official entry form and pre-register until August 26 at the Kasafi office, Capt. Gil M, Mijares Building, XIX Martyrs Street.
Some 150 participants will express their ideas on this year’s theme “Ro Ati-Ati it Kalibo” – a celebration and unwavering faith of devotees to the Sto. Nino.

All participants must bring their own art materials for the contest and they are welcome to use a variety of media.
According to the contest mechanics, the winner will be selected from among the entries by a board of judges based on the following criteria: 40% relevance to the theme, 30% color combination, 20% creativity and 10% lay-out and composition.
The first prize winner will receive P10,000 while the second placer will take home P3,000 and third prize winner to receive P2,000.
The winning poster designs are used by the Kasafi in its promotional materials for the Ati-Atihan festival in 2012, chairman Albert Menez said.
Last September 4, 2011, Aldrian Igmasin of the Aklan State University won P10,000 for taking home first prize in the first on-the-spot poster making organized by the Kasafi. His poster was made the front cover of the 2011 Kalibo Ati-Atihan souvenir program.
