KALIBO, Aklan - The provincial government of Aklan is set to install more brightly coloured street lamps before the year ends.
Last year, the street lamps dot the stretch of Mabini Street in the heart of the capital town to welcome business and leisure travellers bound for Boracay Island via the Kalibo International Airport and roll-on roll-on vehicles from Caticlan.
Aklan Governor Carlito Marquez said the lines of light formed by the street lamps in Mabini Street will be extended all the way to Quezon Avenue in Barangay Andagao and Kalibo airport in Barangay Pook.
“Within three months or before the celebration of the 2012 Kalibo Ati-Atihan festival, the lighting project which covers the stretch from Kalibo International Airport to Kalibo Poblacion will be installed,” he said.
With the four-kilometer stretch all lighted up, the row of modern street lamps of different hues will certainly dominate the streetscape at night from Kalibo International Airport to Mabini Street.
The lighting project aims to brighten the town of Kalibo with additional lamp posts, especially in Mabini, one of Kalibo's busiest streets and Kalibo International Airport, the gateway to the famous Boracay Island and other tourist attractions in the province.
This is a good news for all Aklanons esp. kalibonhons. We need to beautify the Kalibo as this is the center of commerce for Aklan. We are hoping too that in due future, We will have a Hotel Resort in the heart of kalibo that will caters for conventions and meetings for the use of bussiness man that will be coming to Kalibo. Well, We will keep an eye for this project and hoping it will push through.
