Boracay police station, New Washington barangay tanod are region's best

BORACAY - The Boracay police station has been named as one of the "Most Citizen Friendly Police Station" in Region VI.

In the municipal category winners of the National Crime Prevention Week in Iloilo City, the Boracay Special Tourist Protection Office (BSTPO) headed by Superintendent Manuel Vilar placed third in the weeklong celebration under the theme "Komunidad at Pulisya, Magkasama Tungo sa Pag-unlad ng Bayan."

Police regional director Chief Superindentent Samuel Pagdilao, Jr. led the conferment of awards to the most citizen friendly station - Ivisan Police Station in Capiz followed by Tobias Fornier Police Station in Antique in the culminating activity in Iloilo City last week.

Other awardees were San Carlos City Police Station in Negros Occidental, Iloilo City Police Station 2, La Paz in Iloilo City and Bacolod City Police Station 3 for the city category.

Barangay tanod Sergio Perucho of Barangay Polo in New Washington, Aklan was adjudged as Most Outstanding Barangay Tanod in Western Visayas. Warlito Pagran of Barangay Antipolo in Pontevedra, Negros Occidental placed second and Juvy Galon of Barangay Concordia, Sibunag, Guimaras grabbed second runner-up in the individual category.
In the group category, Igcocolo village of Guimbal, Iloilo placed first while Barangay Polo, New Washington, Aklan was first runner-up and Barangay Ilaya in Ivisan, Capiz, second runner-up.

The Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanods was initiated by the Department of Local and Interior Government (DILG) and supported by the Philippine National Police, National Police Commission and the local government units.
