Aklan nursing schools produce 141 new nurses

KALIBO, Aklan - A total of 141 examinees out of 448 nursing graduates from Saint Gabriel College and Aklan Polytechnic Institute passed the November 2008 Nursing Board examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).
Aklan Polytechnic Institute, with less than 30 examinees, has a 79 percent passing rate with 22 out 28 examinees passed the nursing board examination.
Saint Gabriel College was ranked No. 60 among schools with 100 and more examinees.
The college has a passing rate of 28 percent, of which 73 first timers and 46 repeaters successfully hurdled the nursing licensure examination.
Last June 2008 nursing board examination, Saint Gabriel College also produced 115 new nurses out of 64,459 examinees.
A total of 39,455 nursing examinees out of 88,649 nursing passed the November 2008 examination or 44.51 percent passing rate. Jovie Ann Alawas Daycona from Baguio Central University topped the recent board examination with a score of 89 percent.
Xavier University ranked number one among the nursing schools who took the board exams followed by Silliman University, Central Philippine University, Saint Louis University, Southern Luzon Polytechnic College-Lucban, Saint Paul University-Tuguegarao and Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
The November 29 to 30, 2008 examination was administered in Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Davao City, Iloilo City, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao, Sulu, and Zamboanga City.
