Stopover Aklan: A Food Festival and ‘Amazing Weaves’ at Intercon Manila
BY BOY RYAN ZABAL

InterContinental Manila is proud to host the ‘Stopover: Aklan A food festival’ at your favorite buffet restaurant, Café Jeepney in Makati City. It will run from March 5 to 24.

Diners of Aklan’s signature cuisine will have the chance to savor in the finest flavors with an array of specialties and dishes for their lunch and dinner buffet.

The culinary stopover is part of the 19-day Aklan Fabric and Cuisine Festival, which is supported by the Aklan provincial government, Aklan Provincial Tourism Council and the Kalibo Sto. Nino Ati-Atihan Foundation, Inc. (Kasafi).

The gastronomic journey of Aklan cuisine is the first-ever in InterContinental Manila. This March, eager patrons can marvel at authentic cuisine by homegrown cooks flying all the way from Aklan to prepare the main dishes and desserts for Café Jeepney’s buffet.

Aside from the food festival, Aklan will also showcase a fabric show on the cocktail opening on March 5 at InterContinental Manila lobby.

Fashion by Rajo Laurel, Frederick Peralta, Milka Quin, Barge Ramos, Cezar Gaupo and Jojie Lauren using pina fabric from Aklan and the art of hand weaving are the main feature of the fabric show aptly titled “Amazing Weaves”.

A street dancing parade of Black Beauty Boys and Kabog contingents and fire queen Rachel Lobangco are also interesting sidelights of the grand opening.

Aklan’s fiber products of La Herminia Pina Weaving Industry and Dela Cruz House of Pina will also display their wares for the festival.
